Mission Planning System (MPS)

The MPS (PFPS, JMPS…) uses data provided through the
FPM to compute the fuel requirements and leg times of the
mission. The FPM provides the MPS with airspeed, rate-of change in
altitude, and fuel consumption. The FPM “polices” the flight conditions
and reports conditions where the aircraft is incapable (insufficient
torque) or beyond limitations (Vne, Structual Weight Limit, etc.). The
MPS provides the following:
• mission fuel requirements
• time/distance/heading
• insight to the failure of mission based on aircraft capabilities (by
exposing the
messages generated by the FPM)
The user must modify the route based on the error messages until the
mission can be successfully completed. These modifications could entail
weight changes, speed changes, or adding
Forward Arming and Refueling Points (FARPs).
Mission Planning Module (MPM)
The MPM is a unique module that provides the interface between Westar
components and the MPS. The MPM isolates the changes to the MPS
implementation, eliminating Westar component modification due to MPS
decisions.
