Visual FPM

Visual FPM (vFPM)—Westar’s Second-Generation Technology
The
FPM (Flight Performance Module)
provides an electronic representation of an aircraft’s capabilities and
limitations. The FPM is used by a mission
planning system to compute an aircraft’s ability to execute a
mission. vFPM is Westar’s
second-generation FPM development tool and runtime engine.
vFPM reduces life-cycle costs through:
The user benefits from reduced computation times.
Similar FPM datasets (derived from flight test data, engineering data,
digitized performance charts) support various hardware platforms and
operating systems to include Windows-based kneeboard, hand-held,
on-board, and other emerging architectures.
These datasets also may have a reduced set of functionality
(sub-setting) and/or functionality overrides (substitution). Sub-setting
allows for minimizing the FPM to the functionality required for a
specific platform or application while providing the same result as the
“complete” desktop mission planning FPM. Substitution enables
approximating functions to replace iterative solutions that can not be
tolerated on a time critical system (embedded). This provides a result
within the time tolerance defined at FPM design.
