Westar Announces Management Upgrades
January 18, 2005 St. Louis, MO. The Board of Directors of Westar is pleased to confirm the following new leadership positions in Westar Aerospace & Defense Group, Inc.
Garrett Martz, the former CEO of ELMCO, Inc., which was acquired by Westar in 2004, has been appointed Executive Vice President and COO. According to Rob Topping, CEO, "Garrett brings a great perspective to the business and has my confidence and that of our Board. He created a great business in record time, and has a top-notch team of professionals supporting him, for whom we have great hopes." Randy Tieszen, formerly Westar's VP of Strategic Programs, has been appointed Executive Vice President, Aviation Programs, to lead Westar's $100 million dollar business in that area. John Irby, has been appointed Executive Vice President, Space and Missile Systems, one of the fastest growing areas and containing nearly all of the prior ELMCO's business supporting the Missile Defense Agency, NASA, the Army's Space and Missile Defense Command, and numerous other agencies with special programs of national importance. According to Garrett Martz, "ELMCO made the Inc. Fast 50 List twice because of growth in John's area, he's a great leader and fine technologist." Jim Williford has been appointed Executive Vice President of the National Capital Region operations, and has responsibility for the management and growth of Westar's joint program operations from his office in Crystal City.
