2005 Press Release

Army Awards Westar $30M Condition Based Maintenance Contract

October 17, 2005, Huntsville, AL. The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), awarded Westar a contract to provide engineering, statistical analysis, and database architecture design services for implementation of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM).

Under the contract, Westar will develop methodologies, build software applications, and design a data warehouse which correlates data from disparate sources, including data generated by sensors on-board aircraft to provide decision support information to fleet managers and leaders in the field, and ultimately reduce maintenance workload and improve readiness.  According to Mary Catherine Akamatsu, Data Warehouse Manager for Westar, “This is a great opportunity to improve Army Aviation readiness and to reduce maintainers’ workload using data warehousing technology.  We are extremely pleased to be selected for this important transformation program and look forward to providing an enterprise system that brings insights to fleet managers and the cost and readiness benefits of CBM to our Army.”

The work will be performed in Huntsville, AL and field locations around the world.
