Westar Aerospace & Defense Group Acquires SimAuthor

March 27, 2006  Westar Aerospace & Defense Group, Inc. has acquired Colorado-based SimAuthor, Inc. in an all-cash transaction for approximately $8 million.  SimAuthor is a software and services company that specializes in flight data visualization and simulation technology.

With offices in Washington, D.C., and Boulder, Colo., SimAuthor provides flight operation quality assurance analysis to the US Navy, US Army, and many other industry leaders in the flight simulation business. 

According to Charlie Douglas, CEO of SimAuthor, “This transaction moves us closer to our goal of building a leading aviation systems analysis company and holds great value for our employees and our customers.  We’re excited about the synergies and growth potential of the combined companies going forward.”  Douglas will serve as president of the SimAuthor Division of Westar.

SimAuthor has developed a reputation for building software systems that improve the maintenance, operations, training, and safety of aviation platforms for large fleet owners.  The company’s FlightAnalyst and FlightViz® products are in use world-wide by hundreds of leading organizations.
